This is the third annual gathering on high performance computing in Norway. The NOTUR 2003 conference is an ideal opportunity for researchers and engineers with interest in computational science to come together and be informed about the latest trends and developments in high performance computing in Norway and abroad. The meeting will gather a broad range of people, including HPC policy makers, project leaders, academic staff and students, computational scientists and engineers, system administrators, industrial partners, and hardware and software vendors.
NOTUR 2003 is a forum for the exchange of ideas and competence among specialists in parallel computing and scientists from industry and academia solving large scale computational
problems. The meeting also provides an opportunity to discuss the current state of high performance computing in Norway and requirements for the future. The NOTUR Consortium is supported by the Research Council of Norway and the member institutions: The Norwegian University of Science and Technology, University of Bergen, University of Oslo, University of Tromsø, SINTEF, Statoil, Ceetron and the Norwegian Meteorological Institute. Representatives from all the member institutions, the Research Council, the ministries, the research community, universities, industry and all others who are interested in HPC are encouraged to attend the conference Program (Folder in PDF-format) The two days will give the audience a good update on what is happening in the high performance computing community in and outside Norway. Keynote speakers from the international community will share their experiences, views and opinions on both days. Wednesday May 14: (Start 10.00am) The first day will focus on research policy aspects of HPC together with the future of HPC in Norway. There will also be a presentation of current activities within NOTUR, the Technology Transfer Projects (TTPs) and emerging technologies like GRID and Cluster computing. A conference dinner will be held in the evening. Thursday May 15: Day two will focus on applications of HPC in traditional and new sciences like bioinformatics. Posters will be also be presented. In the afternoon, there will be a round table discussion on the future of HPC in science and technology in Norway. (End ca. 3.30pm) Confirmed Speakers: (more speakers will be added to this list as soon as they have confirmed) -
Frank Baetke, HP Corporation, Global HPC Technology Program Manager. -
-
Tryggve Fossum, Intel Corporation, Director of Microarchitecture Development. -
Knut Fægri, University of Oslo, Head of the NOTUR board. -
