| The NOTUR 2002 "gathering" is a way for everyone involved with high performance computing in Norway to come together and share their opinion and their point of view on how high performance computing should be handled in the future. We encourage HPC leaders, scientists, administrators, industrial partners and vendors to enjoy the hospitality of the conference site, and to broaden their perspective on high performance computing, during two days dedicated to science and technology. The NOTUR Consortium is supported by the Research council of Norway and the member institutions: The Norwegian university of science and technology, Universitiy of Bergen, University of Oslo, University of Tromsø, SINTEF, Statoil, Ceetron and the Norwegian meteorological institute. Representatives from all the member institutions, the Research council of Norway as well as the rest of the research community, is welcomed to join hands at the NOTUR 2002 gathering. | | The program We hope that the two days will give the audience a good update on what is happening in the high performance computing community in and outside Norway. Thursday April 25: The first day will start at 1030 and will focus on HPC in new sciences like bioinformatics and on emerging technologies like GRID computing. The new 500 Gflop/s IBM Regatta system at Parallab will be inaugurated in the afternoon. The program at day one will be concluded with an update on a presentation of the Research Council report on the next HPC project in Norway. This report is currently under development, and is due for official release the week after NOTUR 2002. Friday April 26: Day two will focus on some application areas that will play a major role on the Regatta system. A more technical overview of the IBM Regatta and IBMs HPC strategy is planned as well. Experiences on coordinating HPC centres will also be covered. At the end of day two internal meetings in each of the main activites in NOTUR will take place.
