2010-06-28: PRACE: call for 1-year projects on Europe's fastest computerThe Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe (PRACE) has published its first regular call for projects. The call is aimed at projects to use the IBM BlueGene/P (JUGENE) at Forschungszentrum Jülich in Germany. The system is currently one of the fastest computers in the world and includes 294 912 processor cores and 144 Terabyte memory, hosted in 72 racks. In this call, a total of 360 million compute core hours is available. Allocations will be for one year starting from November 1, 2010. The call is intended for large-scale projects of high scientific quality and for which a significant impact at European and international level is anticipated. High scalability of the code (at least 8000 compute cores) must be demonstrated. The deadline for submission of proposals is August 15 at 16.00 CEST. All proposals must be submitted via the PRACE website at http://www.prace-project.eu/hpc-access. Applicants should expect to be notified of the outcome by the end of October 2010. |
