2008-10-21: PRACE scientific workshopPRACE, the Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe, is arranging a scientific workshop in Lyon on November 26, to be held in parallel with ICT 2008. The workshop will include a networking session at ICT 2008 along with an evening session and dinner on the 26th. The themes of the scientific workshop are applications, architectures and training needs for the petascale regime. Participants will receive first hand information about the progress of the PRACE project, including hardware infrastructure, software applications and training. The preliminary programme for the evening session is available on www.prace-project.eu/events. The workshop is designed for European scientists who are likely to benefit from the use of a Europe-wide supercomputing infrastructure. Registration is required. PRACE's objective is to create a persistent pan-European High Performance Computing (HPC) service and infrastructure. European scientists and technologists will be provided with world-class leadership supercomputers with capabilities equal to or better than those available in the USA or Japan. Computational research and mathematical modelling can be applied to numerous fields of science and technology. PRACE's HPC infrastructure will be open to European researchers. To register: Complete the registration form on www.prace-project.eu/events/registration More information: Please contact Anni Jakobsson (anni.jakobsson@csc.fi) or Tim Robinson (robinson@cscs.ch) for more information about the event.
