2006-09-28: New allocation period starts October 2The Notur project received nearly 60 applications for computing time for the upcoming allocation period 2006.2 that starts October 2. The total amount of computing time applied for exceeded the total available resources by a factor 1.8. The Resource Allocation Committee that evaluated the applications at its meeting on September 11 therefore had to reduce a number of applications in size. For several installations, the Committee granted more resources than there are actually available to ensure high utilization of the machines. Projects that need additional computing time during the period can apply for extra resources. Additional computing time will consist of unprioritized hours. Major changes for the new period are that the new facility at NTNU (njord) will be available, while snehvit has been taken out of the Notur allocation system. Gridur/embla will be available for national usage until December 31.
